Comments: A relative of Washington Allston (see entry), Miss DuprÈ studied for a few years in Paris before 1841. Her home was in Charleston (SC), where she won considerable acclaim as an artist and musician. In 1844 she married the miniaturist, Henry B. Bounetheau (see entry). She continued to paint and teach in Charleston until the Civil War, except for a period of study in France c.1856. During the latter part of the Civil War the Bounetheau family took refuge in Aiken (SC).
