1970:He established a permanent residence and studio in Captiva FL, USA where he still lives.
1953:He also made designs for Paul TAYLOR’s dance company.
1953 – 1961:He met Jasper JOHNS, with whom he is considered the most influential of artists who reacted against Abstract Expressionism. The two artists had neighboring studios, regularly exchanging ideas and discussing their work in New York NY, USA.
1952 – 1953:From the fall of 1952 to the spring of 1953, he traveled to Europe and North Africa with Cy TWOMBLY, whom he had met at the Art Students League.
1948:At Black Mountain College, he met composer John CAGE, and dancer-choreographer Merce CUNNINGHAM for whom he worked as a designer, manager and performer.
