ART ÉLYSÉES – ART & DESIGN, MODERN & CONTEMPORARY ART FAIR A TIMELESS AND UNIQUE ARTISTIC EVENT

20—24 OCTOBER 2016 — PARIS.

Art Élysées—Art & Design celebrates its tenth edition asserting its significance through the fair’s identity: demands for high quality and the guarantee of a substantial selection of artworks; a market incline to a broader range of modern, contemporary art and design; an exceptional location in the heart of Paris on the Avenue des ChampsElysées,

the most renowned avenue of the world; the contribution to the capital’s artistic dynamism and activity, its cohesion with public and private stakeholders involved in the culture and art world.. All these unique features differentiate the fair from other events. Art Élysées Art & Design has grown to become a major event by being a complementary and essential fair for art aficionados and collectors seeking reliable assets through valuable artworks.

HISTORY

Initially named «Les Élysées de l’Art», Art Élysées—Art & Design was created in October 2007, in pavilions set on the Avenue des ChampsÉlysées, from place de la Concorde to the Grand Palais, at the same time as Fiac. In the beginning, Art Élysées Art & Design was a response to the growing demand of French galleries who needed to be present during the Parisian Art Week in October, as well as a new event that offered collectors the chance to see a wider range of artists that have influenced the art of the 20th century and discover quality contemporary art that remains accessible. As a result, the organizers continue to work hand in hand with their exhibitors, cultural institutions and foundations, by offering simultaneously original and exceptional exhibitions in order to enable the growth of this promising event that ranks amongst one of the major artistic fairs in Europe.

THE ART ÉLYSÉES-ART & DESIGN OUTLOOK : OFFERING A TIMELESS VISIT

The fair’s ongoing success resides in the fact that the organizer’s avoid following trends. With a positioning based more on modern art than contemporary art, the fair is often described as “sensible”: the fair doesn’t aim to be sensible, completely international or even fashionable but to offer a selection of galleries that guarantee works of high quality. This point doesn’t prevent the fair from being innovative, as proved by the many exclusive exhibi- tions, the creation of a third pavilion presenting 20th century design works seven years ago, or the fourth pavi- lion, 8e Avenue which presents contemporary art making Art Elysées-Art & Design the first fair to offer a section of urban art.

PROGRAME 2016

To celebrate the fair’s tenth anniversary the organizers have set up different events. Jean Dubuffet Exhibition

Events : SALON, VIA, Park Hyatt Paris – Vendôme Exhibition & VIP visit, 8e Avenue Art Show.

  ART SECTION: DUBUFFET

For Art Elysées- Art & Design tenth anniversary, the organizers are happy to present visitors with a rare exhibition of Jean Dubuffet’s drawings and prints. The artist was known to the general public for his paintings, sculptures and monumental installations.

This exhibition presents the painter’s research in the style called art brut, showing fantastic numbers in everyday life, and irrational representations in view of the artist’s flat perspective, brut drawings and unexpected assimila- tions.

With a shift towards contemporary design, since its creation in 2009, the design section of Art Elysées is known for its presentation of XXth century design. This year the fair will collaborate with Via, a French label, which will present its selection of galleries and design houses which defend young designers of the French scene. The fair is also proud to present “SALON”: a one-of-a kind exhibition curated by the Berlin-based Michael Fuchs Galerie.

Inspired by the own personal collecting approach of the gallery’s founder, « SALON » shows how to collect in a very unique way, by presenting all kinds of art and acting as a merger of art and lifestyle. By setting up an imaginary home interior, the show aims to recreate the intimate environment of an eclectic and passionate art collector. While mixing art works and vintage design furniture, the exhibition introduces a dialogue between different periods of the art history (contemporary art, modern, old masters, design…) which broadens the traditional approach of collecting today.
