KÖLNER LISTE • The Fair of Contemporary Art in Cologne. Applications are now open!

The 4th KÖLNER LISTE will be held from April 28th to 30th, 2017 at the historical XPOST venue. The satellite fair to Art Cologne is an innovative gathering point for young collectors, art enthusiasts and lovers of the emerging 21st-century art, distinguished by moderate prices and non-traditional, experimental approaches of young artists. Visitors of the KÖLNER LISTE will have a chance to explore the latest works in painting, graphic arts, drawing, installations, photography, sculpture and even urban art at our splendid venue which consists of more than 4,000 square meters of artspace. Visitors can inform themselves in a relaxed atmosphere, enter into direct dialogue with artists and exchange views on current positions. From large-scale oil paintings to pocket-sized drawings, there will be something on view for every art lover to discover, enjoy and take home.

New Location of the Fair • XPOST in the City Centre

The XPOST venue in the very heart of the city of Cologne will be the new location for the fourth KÖLNER LISTE. The former post office features an impressive fusion of industrial charm, historical structures and modern, minimalist elements, thus providing the ideal setting for showcasing a whole variety of modern artworks on 4,000 square meters.

The City of Cologne • Historically Distinguished Art Marketplace

As the only satellite exhibition to the Art Cologne, the KÖLNER LISTE is a wholesome extension of Germany’s leading contemporary art market. The recent success of the KÖLNER LISTE speaks for itself: the number of exhibitors almost doubled in 2016 and the 84 exhibitors from 15 countries left a lasting impression on over 7000 art lovers, media representatives and influencers.

Cologne, along with Berlin, is one of German cities with the most dynamic history when it comes to visual arts. Back in the late sixties, Kunstmarkt Köln was organized in a historical Cologne building called the Gürzenich. The development of Kunstmarkt Köln had a strong effect on the international art market since it managed to revive the previously barely active art market in West Germany. In the late 50s, Paris was already losing its reputation as the capital of European art thanks to famous Documenta exhibits in Kassel, Germany. Later on, after the arrival of the modern American art, New York became the powerful new capital of art and it is still the very center of the world’s most prominent artistic projects. However, back in Europe, the role of Rhineland and Cologne in particular was growing tremendously important. Cologne has been considered an industrial powerhouse as well as the center of the West German art world for many decades.

Applications are Open • Apply Now!

Galleries, project groups as well as individual artists are all welcome to apply to KÖLNER LISTE 2017. The selection of participating artists and their artworks will be curated by our highly experienced team whose members have already worked together at the BERLINER LISTE art fair – Dr. Peter Funken, an art journalist, author and curator, Stefan Maria Rother (Photography Section), who is a photographer himself, book author and lecturer, while the gallery owner and street art aficionado Guillaume Trotin will take care of the participants at the urban art section. To sum up, we’re expecting a large variety of artworks coming our way soon and we’re looking forward to working with the most diverse international artists, galleries and art dealers.
