Comments: Established himself as a silversmith in NYC by 1775. He left the city during the British occupation, but by 1784 had returned and begun working as an engraver. During his career, he produced many illustrations for magazines and books, as well as commercial work, bookplates, diplomas, etc. Among his pupils were William Dunlap, Francis Kearney, and his own sons, Peter, Andrew, and Samuel (see entries on each).
