Comments: After serving in the U.S. Navy during the Civil War, this Providence artist became a very successful painter of realist still lifes of fruits, flowers and game. His works, often featuring bunches of grapes, embodied the ideals of the Fall River School of still life painters. He signed his works "E.C. Leavitt."
