Comments: Came from the East and settled in Nauvoo probably before 1848; spent latter years in St. Louis, MO. He drew what became a widely reproduced view of the Mormon Temple in Nauvoo, first published at St. Louis in 1868. His view of the Temple was made sometime in the fifties. Murphy designed the Roman Catholic Church at Nauvoo in the 1860s.
