Comments: Between 1853 and 1861 the name appears variously in directories as Amendt, Amench, or Amerdt. A lithographer named Philip Aamond (see entry) appeared in the directores 1851-54 (at a different address in N.O. than Amendt) and is possibly the same artist, but the question has not been resolved. Groce & Wallace listed as same but the Encyclopaedia of New Orleans Artists, listed as two different artists (Amendt and Aamond). See also Ph. Hermandt.
