Comments: Working in New Orleans as early as 1840. In 1845 and 1846 the directories list him as J.E. Bockler and J.E. Bochler, respectively. He made a lithograph of St. Paul's Church in 1854, lithographed sheet music covers 1866-67, and was still active as late as 1875. Two of his sons, Emile and John, Jr. (see entries), also became lithographers in New Orleans.
