biography of Daniel DICKINSON (1795-1866)

Comments: Son of Oliver Dickinson, Jr., and younger brother of the more famous miniaturist Anson Dickinson (see entries on each). Daniel moved to Philadelphia c. 1818 and worked there as a portrait and miniature painter until 1846. From 1847 until at least 1866, Dickinson lived in Camden (NJ), where he seems to have eventually turned from portrait painting to horticulture.
