biography of Octavia MAVERICK (1814-1882)

Comments: Daughter of Peter, sister of Emily, Maria Ann, and Catharine, all artists. Began working with her sister Catherine (see entry) as early as 1834. In 1846 she married Edwin Spafard, a teacher, and she herself taught drawing and painting at the Packer Institute in Brooklyn from 1855-63.
