biography of John SHREEVE (1823-?)
Birth place: Pennsylvania
Addresses: Philadelphia, 1845-1870 and after
Profession: Portrait painter
Comments: He may have been the John Shreeves of 80 Green St., Philadelphia, who executed two silhouettes reproduced in Antiques in September 1922. These silhouettes are assigned the date c. 1810, but as John Shreeves, the portrait painter, was living on Green St. between 1850-54, it is possible that he was the artist and that the silhouettes have been wrongly dated.
