Comments: Went to primary school in Belgium and came to New Orleans c.1899, soon after his father Alexandre Alaux (see entry). He did sketches and his drawing of a drowning man appealing to the Virgin and Child was made the day before he himself drowned. His father later copied the drawing as a large painting and gave it to the Church of Our Lady of the Lake as a memorial to his son.
