Comments: Traveled to California at age two via the Isthmus of Panama. Phoebe Hearst, a passenger aboard the ship, liked the child. Later when Peck became an artist, he painted several portraits of the Hearst family, and was in charge of the artistic work planned for W.R. Heart's ranch in northern Calif.
