Comments: He annually gave the Saltus medal for merit at the National Academy of Design, and gave rare books on costume to the library of the Salmagundi Club. He donated $25,000 to the fund for the erection of the Joan of Arc statue on Riverside Drive, and presented a replica of it to the city of Blois, France. He also gave a life-size statue of Joan of Arc to the Cathedral of St. John the Divine for the French Chapel.
