Comments: Dawson-Watson painted in Giverny 1885-90; at the urging of C. Beckwith, he came to the U.S. in 1893 and painted in New England until 1897. He was back in England for a short time, then in Canada for three years; and at the Woodstock art colony and the St. Louis SFA, 1904-15. In 1926, he was in Boston when he heard about the Wild Flower Painting Contest in San Antonio. He left immediately and established a studio in San Antonio, c.1927. Positions: art dir., Missouri Centennial; art dir., St. Louis Industrial Exh., 1920. Also known as Dawson Watson.
