Comments: A close friend to Thomas Eakins, Murray had a successful career as a sculptor in Philadelphia, receiving commissions for statues and portraits of leading Phila. citizens. Collaborated with other Eakins students on sculpture for the Smith Mem. in Fairmount Park and the Witherspoon Building. Murray sculpted portraits of Eakins and members of Eakins family, and also appeared in several paintings by the artist. Teaching: asst. to Eakins at ASL, Phila.; anatomy and life-modeling at Phila. Sch. Des. for Women (Moore College), 1890-1941.
