Austria’s international art fair

This com­ing au­tumn, the in­ter­na­tional art com­mu­nity will once again gather in Vi­enna: From 21 to 24 Sep­tem­ber 2017 es­tab­lished and emerg­ing gal­leries from all over the world will pre­sent se­lected art works at Aus­tria’s in­ter­na­tional art fair.

Al­ready in the past, the team of vi­en­na­con­tem­po­rary, spear­headed by artis­tic di­rec­tor Christina Stein­brecher-Pfandt and man­ag­ing di­rec­tor Renger van den Heuvel, suc­ceeded with the fair’s unique focus on East- and Cen­tral Eu­rope, while fur­ther ex­pand­ing its in­ter­na­tional reper­toire. Known as a “fair for ex­plor­ers”, vi­en­na­con­tem­po­rary fea­tures the most in­trigu­ing se­lec­tion of con­tem­po­rary art the re­gion has to offer, unit­ing Eu­rope’s East and North with its West, and pre­sent­ing new dis­cov­er­ies along­side es­tab­lished po­si­tions. Last year’s ex­hi­bi­tion fea­tured 112 gal­leries from 28 coun­tries and at­tracted more than 28.000 local and in­ter­na­tional guests.

In co­op­er­a­tion with Aus­tria’s lead­ing mu­se­ums and art in­sti­tu­tions, a wide array of im­pres­sive spe­cial pro­grams was cre­ated: Events in­clud­ing spe­cial show­cases, talks, guided tours, and the ex­cel­lent VIP Pro­gram at­tract the in­ter­na­tional art scene and pro­vide for en­ter­tain­ment through­out the city. For a whole week, Aus­tria’s cap­i­tal turns into an in­ter­na­tional hot spot for con­tem­po­rary art and cul­ture.

For the third time, vi­en­na­con­tem­po­rary is tak­ing place at the Vi­en­nese Marx-Halle. With its high ceil­ings and 19th cen­tury-steel struc­ture, the newly ren­o­vated in­dus­trial style build­ing is a per­fect venue for pre­sent­ing con­tem­po­rary art. It’s not with­out rea­son that vi­en­na­con­tem­po­rary is said to be one of Eu­rope’s most beau­ti­ful art fairs.
