This etching and aquatint in colours is hand signed in pencil “Ed Ruscha” at the lower right corner. It is dated “82” [1982] next to the signature. It is also hand numbered in pencil from the edition of 25, at the lower left corner. There were also ten artist’s proofs aside from the standard edition. This etching and aquatint was printed and published by Crown Point Press, California in 1982.

Note:From the early 1970s Ruscha began to turn away from his iconic Gas Station Americana and started making drawings and paintings of single words or short phrases placed against soft unmodulated backgrounds. They all appear as the main focal point, appealing to the artist for both their visual and phonetic forms but they also took on paradoxical resonance in isolation from their mundane contexts.

We have found only one other impression of this work sold in public auction in the past 20 years.
