From 1919-1924, Kurche served as the apprentice to artist and professor Lucien Simon at the School of Fine Arts, Paris. While in Paris, Kurche was influenced by the work of the Impressionists. In his works, Kurche depicted historical and modern buildings in Damascus, as well as views of the countryside and the Syrian desert. Kurche was the recipient of many awards throughout his career, including a medal at the 1st and 3rd Regional Bienali Symposium in Alexandria for the Mediterranean countries and the 1960 medal of the Ministry of Culture from the Syrian territory |
