Rare Oil on panel signed on lower right part “M.Sterling”. Provenance : Bordeaux private collection. Between 1923 until World War II, he moved with his family to Paris. Once in France, he became regular at the cafes
where Montparnasse artists usually meet and the Zak gallery signed a 3-year contract with him. He was then part of the Paris School and attended "La Ruche" where he met Jacques Chapiro, Ossip Lubitch, Pinchus
Krémegne and Michel Kikoïne. His Parisian life culminates in encounters with Picasso, Braque, Juan Gris and Metzinger, which deeply marked Sterling's work. Sterling made changing and varying paintings. During his career, his work evolved in terms of techniques (gouache, drawing, engraving, oil, wash), Art currents, from constructivism to synthetic cubism through dreamlike realism.
