"Virgin and Child enthroned with Angels" (center) 58x27cm - "Saint George slaying the dragon" (right) 54x18,5cm - "Saint Catherine of Alexandria" (left) 54x18,7cm. Tempera painting with its rare carved and decorated frame 86x95cm (needing restoration). At the end of Middle Ages, such images respond to codes with easily identifiable characters. Clothes of our paintings illustrate perfectly the Venetian Fabrics. ”The opulent cloth seen in Quattrocento Venetian paintings reflects the local cloth industry, which was one of the great successes of Venetian commercialism. Here is an example of the
sumptuous silk cut-velvet fabric for which Italy and Venice in particular, became famous. Red is the main colour in our three paintings : in the Madonna dress as well as of the standing up angels and in the background tapestry. It is also in the dress of Cathryn of Alexandria and in the mantel emerging from Saint Michael’s wings.
