The portrait examined depicts a boy intent on playing a flute. The artist is Domenico Fedeli, known as the Maggiotto (Venice, 1712 - 1794). Born in Venice, Maggiotto was trained in the workshop of Giovanni Battista Piazzetta from the age of ten, becoming one of his the best students. From 1756 Maggiotto became a member of the Venetian Academy of painting and sculpture, thanks to the invitation of Tiepolo
