Detailed Description: Painting in Dieppe is a Pissarro family tradition. We know that Paulémile painted there in 1905 with his brother Ludovic-Rodo, as did Georges Manzana, and it is interesting that he returned some twenty years later to this port that had inspired his father to produce a wonderful series of paintings in 1902. This is an absolute masterpiece, combining post-impressionism with some Cézanne-esque and Cubist elements. A photo is attached to the back of the painting of Dieppe as it is today, and showing some of the similarities in the skyline.

The port of Dieppe is another rare early work, in both period and size, and is also unusual in its subject as one does not often see either sea or urban views by the artist.
