Illustrated on page 64 of the catalog. - Private Collection, Spain. Several paintings depicting a seated woman on a chair were made by Corot in the last decade of his life, including a series depicting a woman in his studio in front of an easel, the model holding a book or a mandolin, dated between 1865-1870, for instance those in the Musée d’Orsay (inv. RF 3745), the Baltimore Museum of Art (inv. 1950.200), the Louvre (inv. RF 1974), the National Gallery of Art in Washington (inv. 1942.9.11) and the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Lyon (inv. B.627; see Corot. Le peintre et ses modèles, exhib. cat., Paris, Musée Marmottan Monet, 2018, nos. 47-50, ill.; and Corot, Women, exhib. cat., Washington, National Gallery of Art, 2018). |
