Observations |
The Israeli visual artist Yaacov Agam, whose real name is Yaacov Gipstein, was born in Rishon LeZion in 1928. He is an emblematic figure of the kinetic art. Exhibiting alongside Alexander Calder, Marcel Duchamp, Victor Vasarely, Pol Bury, Jesus-Rafael Soto and Jean Tinguely in the 1950s, he enjoyed even greater success in the 1970s, creating, among other things, the anteroom of Georges Pompidou’s private apartments at the Élysée Palace. The kinetic art of Agam precipitates the painting in the movement. Agam calls “the fourth dimension” the new notion that introduces time and movement into art, a dimension that the artist wants to be spiritual and conceptual. |
