This painting is a profound self-portrait in which Modlin shows herself unabashedly after removing the mask she used to cover herself with. Apocalyptic death is represented by a skull holding a scythe and riding on the back of a horse. It is all a symbolic play in which the artist portrays herself as mature and confident in the face of the death approaching from the horizon. The work is unsigned and possibly unfinished, perhaps because it is one of the artist's last paintings, making it her most profound self-portrait and a fundamental work in her career.
She defines herself as "the best painter of the apocalypse of all times"
