Jacques Auriac, French painter, poster and graphic designer, was born on March 3, 1922 in Paris and died on September 10, 2003 in Avranches. His passion for graphic art was born during his visit to the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1937, particularly marked by the “Advertising Pavilion”. He studied at the École des beaux-arts de Bourges from 1940 to 1941, then at the École des beaux-arts de Paris from 1941 to 1943. He served as president of the national union of graphic designers and taught poster art at the Penninghen School of Graphic Arts from 1981 to 1995. In 1997, he moved to Saint-Jean-le-Thomas in Manche, where he continued to create, inspired by marine themes, still lifes and colorful landscapes. In addition, he is buried in Saint-Jean-le-Thomas.
