Artwork description

This pochoir is hand signed in pencil by the artist "Albert Gleizes" in the lower right margin. It is dated in pencil "20" (1920) beside the signature. This pochoir was printed in 18 colours and was executed in 1927 to 1929 by Robert Pouyaud in Moly-Sabata based on an original Gouache from 1920. In 1920 upon Gleizes return from New York, He started working on a new monumental project: a wall decoration (Murale) for the Moscow train station. Gleizes created several studies and one large oil painting for this project in 1920 but unfortunately it was never project was never completed. In 1927 Robert Pouyaud together with Gleizes decided to create a pochoir based on one of the studies. The pochoir was printed in a small edition and not all the impressions were hand signed by Gleizes. Literature: Varichon, Anne, 1998. Albert Gleizes, Catalogue Raisonné: Vol I, Somogy, Paris.
