Comments: During the early 1840s, he went to Italy. Although he settled in NYC in 1847, he made lengthy trips to Europe. He was highly respected by his fellow artists and was a close friend of John F. Kensett (the two shared a studio). Lang was especially known for his warm genre portrayals of holiday scenes.
