Comments: As a business man, probably in the New York area, Dunnell exhibited several views at the National Academy in the late 1840's. From 1849 to 1851 he was in business in Coloma (CA), and at this time he made three views of Sutter's Mill. Dunnel returned to NYC in 1851 and became active in Republican politics, especially in the election of 1856. In 1857 he returned to California for three years, as agent for the Singer Manufacturing Company. From 1860 until his death, he was a resident of NYC.
