biography of Harvey Wallace CAYLOR (1867-1932)

Birth place: near Noblesville, IN

Death place: Big Spring, TX.

Studied: Indianapolis, with Jacob Cox; sketching scenes as he worked on ranches.

Exhibited: 1927

Comments: Born in a log cabin, hje left home at 14. He eventually went west toward the Pacific and then to Arizona to observe the Indians in the early 1880s. Settled in Big Spring, TX in 1890, where he painted longhorns, followed cattle drives and roundups and became known as a cowboy artist.
