Comments: One of the earliest practitioners of the daguerreotype, his NYC gallery was called the "National Daguerreotype Miniature Gallery." In 1847 he formed a major photographic supply house that by 1849 was selling cameras and lenses. In 1852 he went into partnership with his brother, Henry, and formed the E. & H.T. Anthony & Co., which became the largest supplier in the U.S. for everything photographic. By 1859 the company was also a major publisher stereoviews. Edward also published Anthony"s Photographic Bulletin.
