Comments: Born William Dodge MacKnight, he began his career as a painter of theater scenery. Traveled to Europe to study and paint, 1883-91; returned to the US, first to Greenfield, MA, then Mystic, CT and finally Cape Cod. He continued to travel widely, painting landscapes. He was particularly known for his snow scenes in NH.
