Paul CÉZANNE (1839-1906)

Other possible identifications: attributed, after, manner

Paul Cézanne (born in Aix-en-Provence in 1839), knew how to translate the beauty of the Provençal landscapes, in particular of the Sainte-Victoire.

Initially influenced by the impressionists Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro and Auguste Renoir, the “father of impressionism” endeavors to render the effects of light, especially in his still lifes, whose most beautiful works exceed $ 50m since 1999. Cézanne gradually forged his unique style by emphasizing the geometric treatment of the subject, thus tending towards abstraction. After his death in 1906, he will be considered the father of modern painting and the precursor of cubism, deeply influencing artists such as Picasso and Georges Braque.
