biography of Walter GOODMAN (1838-?)

Birth place: England

Profession: Painter

Comments: Enigmatic artist about whom little is known. A masterful trompe-l'úil painting entitled The Printseller's Window" (or "The Artist's Studio") and signed "Walter Goodman" was sold at auction by Sotheby's, NY, Dec. 3, 1998. Sotheby's speculated that the artist was the British painter Walter Goodman (b.1838) who exhibited portraits at the Royal Academy, London, and who is known to have traveled to Cuba and to the United States.
