Comments: Teaching: Bennett Jr. Col., Millbrook, NY, 1938-42; Wesleyan College, Macon, GA, 1942- (retired 1953 and moved to Niceville, FL). Lectures: Henri and His Group. He was a friend of another German immigrant, Rudolf Scheffler; together they were among the artists who were part of the Monhegan Island colony in the summers during the 1930s. Holzhauer came to Monhegan Island at the urging of Robert Henri.
