IAS Art Projects:

• The International Speakers’ Forum The International Speakers’ Forum will be held during India Art Summit™, from the 20th to the 22nd of August 2009. Its intent is to bring together artists, curators, scholars, museum directors, and art professionals to discuss pertinent issues that affect contemporary art today and which will define its future. Although only a year old, the Speakers’ Forum at India Art Summit is already acknowledged internationally, as a highly reputed platform for discussion on contemporary art. For the 2009 edition, sessions have been designed to focus on the current cultural theories on globalization and the perception from the ground of Asia; discussions between the various agents who are, directly or tangentially, involved with the art market as we know it today; and informal interactions between a panel of gallerists, collectors and artists. The Seminar Programme and the list of speakers for 2009 will be made available shortly.

IAS Sculpture Park
All the works featured in the IAS Sculpture Park will be those that place emphasis on the relationship between art and nature and environmental sensitivity. Essentially, the sculpture park would become a forum, a place of interaction between sculptural art and the audience. Allowing artists to maintain their individuality regarding style, the intended outcome is an outdoor exhibition of modern and contemporary sculpture.

IAS Video Lounge The idea of the IAS Video Lounge is to acquaint art lovers to video art by contemporary Indian as well as international artists.

Purple Wall Project
Curated by independent art critic and curator, Gayatri Sinha, the IAS Purple Wall project aims to showcase the best of contemporary Indian art. The Purple Wall in IAS 2009 will be designated spaces within the Fair area that will feature works by contemporary Indian artists. About 10-12 artists working in a range of materials, techniques and genres will be invited by the curator to participate in this project. These works in different media, style, size and forms- two or three dimensional- paintings or installations in any one or more mixed or new media, will be suitably displayed in distinctly demarcated areas at the fair venue.

Satellite Events
Other than promoting all art events that take place for its duration and during the week leading up to the fair, India Art Summit is also in the process of bringing together the programmes of various cultural centers around the city, so that the entire city comes alive with the art and cultural happenings for that one week.
