Oil on board signed lower left and located on a handwritten label on the back. Dagnac-Rivière was a painter in oil and gouache medium, he specialised in landscapes with figure compositions. He studied Under Jules Lefebre; Gustave Boulanger and Benjamin Constant. His subjects were inspired by the life of local people in Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco the French colonies of North Africa. His debut exhibition was in Paris at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1885. He became a member of the Salon in 1898. An honourable mention at the Exposition de Paris in 1900 followed. Later exhibitions included the Société Nationale des Beaux Arts as well as being a member of their selection committee.
