Schneider was a French painter, engraver and illustrator. His teachers were Martin Drolling and Fournier. He began to present his works at the Paris Salon in 1861 and enjoyed immediate success as he obtained a third class medal. The bulk of his work, however, is made up of his engravings, whose subjects are mainly religious (The Coronation of Mary, Saint Francis of Assisi).
