Head of Aeneas in Red II is part of the “LIVING GODS” exhibition. For the series, Reinar Foreman was inspired by Antiquity's legends and stories, seeking to reinterpret myths by updating them to contemporary audiences. Halfway between figurative art and abstraction, he shows the powerful, sometimes severe, nature of human emotions, with simplified but vibrant shapes and colors. This complex vision of ancient mythology gives Foreman's paintings a particular magic. It is part of a triptych which consists of three studies for Aeneas' face in the painting Aeneas, Anchises and Ascanius from the same exhibition.
