JIN Cheng (1878-1926) & FENG Chaoran Ã¥àïèö…ç„ö (1882-1954) Circa 1908-1918 Exceptional quality & very rare Ming style ink with colours on silk, signed with the artists seals, including a forty seven characters poem. The poem reads 'In form days Sima Guang went travelling to famous mountains & great river. After that to comply the Historical Records, first he travelled to the famous mountains & great rivers for 10 years. His work then evolved from his heart & mind. Interest increases after travelling'. Framed & very good condition. Provenance : Private Scottish collection. The inscription relates to Sima Guang (ca. 145 or 135BC - 86BC), a Han Dynasty Prefect of the Grand Scribes. He wrote the 'Records of the Grand Historian', general history of China covering more than 2000 years, 1st official history of China which enabled later historiography.
